The BCC-WCCS Chapter in the past week involved WCCSers and the Barcelona College of Chiropractic students in two rounds of Blood Donations!
We visited two different hospitals on different days, giving the possibility for all the BCC students to come and donate! And guess what? Those brave students that came made a difference for someone else!
In fact donating blood is a simple act of love nevertheless it can make a difference in someone's healing or even in someone's life. Thank you for all the participants and to the brave BCC-WCCS Chapter!
Scared of Needles: 3
All the best to all of you, WCCS!
The WIOC Student Society hosted the annual BACS (British Association of Chiropractic Students) conference on the 7th and 8th of February 2015. The theme was “EMPOWERING CONNECTIONS” and there was a wide variety of internationally acclaimed speakers.
Here are a couple of photos from the fantastic event, that hosted hundreds of international students!
Reflection of World Spine Day
The clinic reception was decorated with some bunting and plenty of information about WSD. We handed out over 100 leaflets including a spinal hygiene workout, down loaded from the WSD Org website along with an invitation for them to give away to someone they thought may benefit from a Spine Check. This was supervised by the staff on reception.
In the college volunteers got busy in the kitchen and made some wonderful cakes & toffee apples for sale.
We had a stall in the common room at lunch time and the cakes went down a treat!
Along side that, for some fun, we had a build the spine competition, where by teams of two students were timed to thread the spine together. ( more difficult than it might seem!)
Great concentration and frustration at times from the contestants, but everyone managed the task eventually!!
The winners in a time of 2.35 minutes were 3rd year students.
At the end of the day we managed to raise a substantial amount for the World Spine Organisation,
A big thank you, from the McTimoney WCCS Chapter, to all that contributed, got involved, and generously donated to the funds.
The second WCCS European Regional Event was hosted by the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) this year. It was held from the 5th to the 7th of September. We had 104 official participants 46 students from abroad and the rest from SDU. Friday we had a fantastic day with tours around the University and a welcoming evening with homemade sandwiches, snack and some traditional Danish cakes.
On Saturday we had a lot of speakers who spoke mostly about Chiropractic in Denmark, our Education and our integration in the Danish Healthcare System. In the afternoon we had workshops with extremity manipulation and dry-needling, afterwards we had a walking guided tour around Odense. In the evening we eat at a local restaurant then had a social gathering that night.
Sunday we got to hear about a former WCCS’s personal story and a presentation about functional disorders. We ended the day with discussion in smaller groups and later in shared discussion about what kind of chiropractor we want to be and what makes a good chiropractor. Finally, I gave a thank-you-speech to all the students, speaker, workshop holders and those who supported us financially.
It is amazing that everything went as planned, everybody was happy, got to know more about Chiropractic in Denmark and I’m very proud of my Chapter and their hard work with helping me.
